All Saints Church

All Saints Anglican Church in St Kilda is the southern hemisphere’s largest Anglican parish church. The church seats 1,400 people and its first service was held in 1861.

KSDesigns, under its former name Scifi Hifi, designed and supplied a complete audio system for the church. The system was delivered on time and within budget for the special retirement service of St Michael’s Grammar School’s former Principal, Mr. Anthony Hewison in 1999.

The congregation has enjoyed many years of ongoing support from KSDesigns’ Mike Levi.

In a grand church, aesthetics are as important a consideration as room acoustics. Minimal visual impact is critical in selecting audio components, with sound reflections kept to a minimum to ensure high speech intelligibility for the congregation.

A pair of Tannoy super high quality single point source speakers were chosen to supply sound for the 1,400 seat church. The lectern, pulpit and choir all utilise identical high quality condenser microphones, and a radio microphone allows Clergy the flexibility to preach without the restriction of a fixed microphone location.

A digital mixing console and multiple system memories give the lay operators access to a library of different set up configurations programmed by KSDesigns.

The audio output from the system is incredibly natural sounding yet powerful enough to be heard in every seat in the church.
